Palmer Ranch

The Palmer Ranch Story

Abundant wildlife, magnificent views, and unbeatable fishing.

A classic cattle operation on the front range of the Canadian Rockies, the Palmer Ranch is a flyfisher’s dream. Sight-fish for big rainbows cruising in spring-fed ponds, or walk and wade the Waterton river as it cuts through the oldest exposed sedimentary rock in Alberta. Pursue cutthroat in small, high streams, or float some of the larger nearby waters. There are plenty of options, and plenty of rainbow, brown, bull and cutthroat trout to test your flyfishing mettle.

More than big, smart fish

For some people, there’s more to the sporting life than fishing.  At the Palmer Ranch, you will have private access to highly productive fishing and hunting grounds. Wildlife is plentiful, with great bird hunting and access to big game territory.

Ranch Living

At day’s end, you can retire to comfortable accommodations in the Waterton River valley. Our bunkhouse – once the hub of the cattle trade – with its full kitchen, large river-rock fireplace, and views of Southern Alberta’s old red argillite mountains, is a great place to contemplate the day’s adventures, and to plan tomorrow’s pursuits.
